Position: Teacher (High School Teacher)
Reports to: Building Principal
Start Date: Upon Board Approval
Job Goal: To create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth.; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitude and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education, in accordance with each pupil’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required):
- Bachelors of Secondary Education Degree
- Professional Teaching License
All staff are expected to maintain their certification for the positions/subjects taught. Renewal of licenses are the responsibility of each certified staff member and failure to hold the proper licenses may be cause for non-renewal of a contract for the next school year.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaches District approved curriculum.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and—in harmony with the goals—establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Diagnoses and assist with the learning disabilities of students.
- Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports and daily lesson plans.
- Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
Working Conditions and Physical Environment
Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; hear and understand speech at normal levels; physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds; to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead.
