Job description

We’re seeking a Plumbing Engineer to join a collaborative MEP team and lead the design and technical execution of plumbing and fire protection systems across a variety of commercial, residential, healthcare, hospitality, and high-rise projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of domestic water, sanitary waste/vent, stormwater, and fuel gas systems.
  • Design and coordinate fire suppression systems in accordance with applicable NFPA standards.
  • Serve as the Engineer of Record (EOR) for plumbing systems and ensure compliance with Florida Building Codes and local requirements.
  • Manage projects from schematic design through construction administration, including site visits and shop drawing reviews.
  • Coordinate plumbing systems with mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
  • Perform technical and quality-control reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Participate in client meetings, project coordination, and municipal presentations as needed.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Active Florida PE license or ability to obtain through comity.
  • 5–10 years of MEP consulting experience, with a strong focus on plumbing and fire protection design.
  • Advanced proficiency with Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with hydraulic calculation software such as HydraCAD, Pipe-Flo, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of Florida Plumbing Code, NFPA standards, and ASPE practices.
  • Strong communication and project coordination skills.


Preferred

  • LEED AP or CPD certification.
  • Experience with high-rise residential, healthcare, or large-scale hospitality projects.
  • Experience leading projects and mentoring junior staff.
  • Comfortable working directly with clients, contractors, and municipalities.
