High Performance Driving information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a high performance driving instructor?

To thrive as a High Performance Driving Instructor, you need advanced driving skills, thorough knowledge of vehicle dynamics, and experience in motorsports or performance driving events, often supported by relevant certifications from organizations like SCCA or NASA. Familiarity with data logging systems, in-car communication tools, and track safety protocols is essential. Strong communication, patience, and situational awareness enable instructors to effectively teach and ensure student safety on the track. These skills are critical for delivering high-quality instruction, maximizing learning, and maintaining safety in high-speed environments.

What is high performance driving?

High performance driving refers to the skillful operation of a vehicle at or near its limits of speed, handling, and braking, typically in a controlled environment such as a racetrack. It involves understanding vehicle dynamics, advanced driving techniques, and safety protocols to maximize both speed and control. Many enthusiasts participate in high performance driving events (HPDEs) to improve their skills, often under the supervision of instructors. Unlike racing, the focus is on driver improvement rather than competition, making it accessible to a wide range of skill levels. Safety is a top priority, with strict rules and guidelines to ensure a secure learning experience.

What are some common challenges faced by high performance driving instructors, and how can they be overcome?

High Performance Driving Instructors often encounter challenges such as adapting teaching methods for students with varying skill levels, maintaining safety in a fast-paced environment, and effectively communicating technical feedback under pressure. Overcoming these challenges requires strong observation skills, patience, and the ability to tailor instruction to individual needs. Regularly updating technical knowledge and participating in instructor development programs can also help instructors stay current with best practices and safety protocols.

Job description

About Sei Labs
Sei Labs builds open sourced technology for the high-performance Sei Blockchain, the first parallelized EVM Layer 1 blockchain designed to scale with the industry. The unique optimizations built into Sei enable Web3 applications to reach Web2 level scale and performance, driving the mass adoption of digital assets.
Our teams are comprised of former Google, Goldman Sachs, Robinhood, Nvidia, and Databricks veterans dedicated to onboarding the next billion users onto a vibrant ecosystem of applications.
Sei Labs has raised over $30M from top investors including Jump Crypto, Multicoin Capital, Coinbase Ventures, Distributed Global, Hudson River Trading, and Flow Traders.
Check out our website and docs for more details.
About the role
Sei Labs is incubating a new US-regulated derivatives venue. We're driving toward a DCM license and, on the back of it, launching a regulated venue for spot and futures across a curated set of crypto assets. Parallel workstreams need to land at regulator submission on the same day - and then go live not long after.
We're hiring a Senior PM to lead the whole DCM initiative. This person owns the master plan, holds partners and internal leaders to it, and gives execs and the board the unfiltered read on where we actually are. Post-license, you'll coordinate exchange build and rollout across partners, compliance, legal, and business, and grow into exchange operations.
This is one of the highest-leverage roles in the company. If you've taken a regulated trading platform from intake to license, this is the seat.
What you'll do
  • Own the master timeline, milestone cadence, and cross-project dependencies for 9+ workstreams pointed at DCM submission
  • Drive partner-commercial tracking across DCO, Anchorage, FCMs, SMARTS, KYC vendors, Connamara, and others - integration timelines, contracts, and SLAs
  • Run daily, weekly, and monthly project planning, check-ins, and risk surfacing across internal teams and external counterparties
  • Deliver exec-level status reporting and board updates - clean, honest signal, no green-washing
  • Hire and manage a bench of TPM/PMs as the program expands into more topic areas
  • Post-license, coordinate exchange build and go-live across partners, compliance, legal, and business; grow into ownership of exchange operations
  • Be the person who removes blockers, gets alignment, and keeps the program pointed at the goal

Who you are
  • 10+ YoE in program management (5+ if you're deep in US licensing product work)
  • 2-3+ years at a US-licensed crypto trading platform, ideally in a ProgM role that led the initial licensing effort (DCM, ATS, broker-dealer, MSB, or equivalent)
  • Fluent working with FCMs, DCOs, custodians, surveillance vendors, and KYC providers
  • Strong track record delivering complex, multi-vendor projects with hard regulatory deadlines
  • Excellent written communicator - you turn messy execution into crisp updates leadership can act on
  • Comfortable holding senior internal leaders and external partners to their commitments
  • Bonus: chief-of-staff or founder-adjacent experience at an early-to-mid stage company; fintech ProgM background overlapping with SEC/compliance work (Robinhood, Stripe crypto, dYdX, Hyperliquid-type orgs, Coinbase, Kraken, Binance.US, etc.)
