Chemours is seeking an Associate Category Manager focus on Feedstock logistics and warehousing to join our Procurement team. This position will be available at the Wilmington, DE location and report directly to the Director of Procurement for Titanium Technologies (TT).
The role will support and has significant importance to all three businesses at Chemours. Titanium Ores are TT's largest raw material families while Fluorspar is a key feedstock for both Thermal Specialty Solutions (TSS) and Advanced Performance Materials (APM) business units. Procurement and supply chain efficiencies are critical for these key buys. Accountability in this role ensures that supply chains remain efficient and optimized, delivering the value to the business by maintaining a high level of performance in shipping and inventory planning as well as managing several key suppliers.
The role will work to ensure that the primary raw material is delivered in accordance with production plans in the most efficient manner to deliver the highest value to these businesses.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Work closely with the Ore and Fluorspar Planner and the Ore and Fluorspar Buyer as well as Chemours' preferred third party broker to schedule ore ships in accordance with pigment schedule and the ore plan.
  • Maintain detailed ore and fluorspar shipping and inventory records with high accuracy to ensure adequate supply to our plants. Work with sites to keep an accurate account of site ore and fluorspar inventory for planning purposes.
  • Directly manage several junior miners with potential to grow in the role and manage major accounts. Negotiate spot PO's, develop multi-year contracts, as needed by the business. Develop relationships with our suppliers and gather market intelligence.
  • Directly monitor and report on offload port activities, warehousing, ground logistics, surveying, and analysis activities related to fluorspar transportation and ensure compliance with existing contracts. Analyze expenditures and provide forecasts and optimization ideas based on planned purchases.
  • Perform Goods Receipts to ensure accurate accounting of raw materials is kept. Approve invoices related to ore and fluorspar shipping, handling and logistics. Analyze shipping costs to highlight cost optimization ideas.
  • Monitor the supplier's loading and Chemours' unloading ports for any delays and issues. Escalate any potential shipping/rail/barge delays which might cause supply shortages.
  • Analyze site ore and fluorspar handling and warehouse options to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Provide a view on current and future global dry bulk shipping market.
  • Perform modeling and analysis to drive tactical and strategic ore and fluorspar shipping decisions.

The following is required for this role:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, engineering, or similar.
  • Proficient in MS Excel (creating macros, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

The following is preferred for this role:
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment with an understanding of the supply chain and supply planning process.
  • 5-7 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or procurement-related roles.
  • SAP user experience
  • Linear programming experience
