Can you make a lot of money in high end jewelry sales?

High end jewelry sales professionals can earn significant income through a combination of base salary, commissions, and bonuses, especially when working with high-value items and experienced salespeople. Success depends on sales skills, product knowledge, client relationships, and the sales environment, with top performers often earning substantial commissions. However, income levels vary widely based on experience, location, and sales performance.

What is high end jewelry sales?

High End Jewelry Sales refers to the profession of selling luxury jewelry items, such as designer pieces, precious gemstones, and fine watches, often in upscale boutiques or department stores. Professionals in this field are responsible for providing personalized service, educating clients about the quality and value of pieces, and assisting with selections for special occasions or investments. They often work with discerning clientele and must possess deep knowledge of jewelry craftsmanship, gemology, and current trends. High end jewelry salespeople also handle after-sales services and may build long-term relationships with customers to encourage repeat business.

What are some common challenges faced in high end jewelry sales, and how can they be overcome?

One common challenge in high end jewelry sales is building trust and rapport with discerning clients who expect personalized service and expert product knowledge. Sales professionals must be prepared to handle complex questions about gemstones, certifications, and provenance. Overcoming these challenges involves continuous education, maintaining a polished and professional demeanor, and providing a bespoke customer experience. Additionally, collaborating closely with gemologists, designers, and management ensures you can meet client needs and stay updated on new collections and market trends.

Job description

Job Title: Senior High-End Jewelry Sales Associate

Location: Reno, NV (in person, 300 N. Virginia Street)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000 ~ $150,000 per year

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced, senior-level jewelry sales professional who has genuinely worked with high-end pieces and high-end clientele, not just general retail jewelry. If you know your way around fine diamonds, precious metals, and luxury watch brands, and you know how to build trust with a client making a significant purchase, we want to talk with you.

This is not an entry-level position. We are specifically looking for someone with a minimum of two years of experience in high-end or luxury jewelry sales who can bring the same level of expertise and client care that our top performers already deliver every day.

What we offer:

  • Competitive compensation with commission and bonus potential

  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits

  • A stable, established employer with almost 70 years in the Reno community

  • Ongoing collaboration with our GIA Graduate Gemologist and an experienced leadership team

  • A genuine opportunity to grow with a company that values expertise over volume

About Palace Jewelry and Loan:

Family-owned and operated since 1958, Palace Jewelry and Loan is a Reno institution built on trust, expertise, and genuine care for clients and employees. We are a full-service jeweler with an on-site GIA Graduate Gemologist, custom design and manufacturing capability, and a reputation the community has trusted for almost 70 years.

HOW TO APPLY:

This is a considered hiring process, not a rushed one. If qualified, will be able to select an interview time immediately. Interviews take place in person at our Reno location every Wednesday at 10 in the morning.

Experience:

  • High-End Jewelry & Luxury Watches: 2 years (Preferred)

Work Location: In person

Compensation:

$100,000 - $150,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

What you will do:

  • Build genuine, lasting relationships with clients purchasing fine jewelry, diamonds, and luxury watches

  • Confidently present and explain diamond quality, precious metals, and watch craftsmanship to discerning buyers

  • Work closely with our on site GIA Graduate Gemologist on appraisals, certifications, and custom pieces

  • Guide clients through custom jewelry design and manufacturing options

  • Manage high value transactions with professionalism, discretion, and precision

  • Maintain and merchandise a showroom that reflects the quality of what we sell

  • Consistently meet and exceed sales goals through expertise, not pressure

Qualifications:

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum two years of experience specifically in high-end or luxury jewelry sales

  • Real, demonstrable experience with fine diamonds, precious metals, and luxury watch brands

  • A track record of working with high-end clientele and delivering a premium client experience

  • Strong communication skills and natural relationship-building ability

  • GIA coursework or diamond grading knowledge is a strong plus

  • A professional, polished presence that fits a luxury retail environment
