What is high autonomy?

A High Autonomy job is a role where employees have significant independence in making decisions, managing tasks, and organizing their work. These roles typically require self-motivation, problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize responsibilities without constant supervision. High Autonomy jobs are common in fields like remote work, research, consulting, and leadership positions. They often provide flexibility in work hours and methods, allowing individuals to optimize productivity and efficiency. However, they also require accountability and strong time-management skills to ensure goals are met effectively.

What does high autonomy mean in a job context?

High autonomy in a job context refers to a work environment where employees have significant independence and control over how they perform their tasks. It means workers can make decisions about their schedules, methods, and priorities with minimal supervision. This type of job often encourages creativity, problem-solving, and personal responsibility, leading to higher job satisfaction and motivation. High autonomy roles are commonly found in creative, research, and leadership positions, but can be present in various industries.

How does a high-autonomy role typically structure collaboration and communication with the rest of the team?

In high-autonomy roles, professionals are trusted to take initiative and manage their own tasks, but effective collaboration and communication remain essential. Team members often use asynchronous tools like project management software, shared documents, and regular check-ins to stay aligned without micromanagement. While you may have significant independence in decision-making and time management, you’ll also participate in team meetings or stand-ups to share progress and coordinate on shared goals. This structure encourages both personal responsibility and open communication, fostering a supportive yet flexible work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a high-autonomy role, and why are they important?

To thrive in a high-autonomy role, you need strong self-management skills, subject matter expertise, and the ability to independently set and achieve goals, typically supported by relevant education or experience in the field. Familiarity with project management tools, collaboration platforms, and time-tracking software is often necessary for remote coordination and task organization. Exceptional communication, proactive problem-solving, and accountability are vital soft skills that help individuals excel when working with minimal supervision. These abilities are important because they ensure productivity, maintain high standards, and drive results in environments that demand independent decision-making.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the full post-sale lifecycle including onboarding, training, deployment, support, and retention of customers.

  • Train customers on the platform and assist them in deploying AmpliFI at their dealerships to drive contract production.

  • Manage account health independently by identifying churn risks, implementing retention strategies, and resolving issues without escalation.

Job description

Carketa builds the platform that connects the automotive aftermarket warranty ecosystem. Our VelociFI and AmpliFI products give agents, agencies, dealerships, and Third-Party Administrators the tools to work together more seamlessly — with greater transparency, clearer communication, and less friction at every step. We're looking for driven people to join us at a pivotal stage of growth.

Role Summary

This is the most independent role on our Go-to-Market team. You own a two-part motion end to end:

  1. Onboard, train, and grow VelociFI customers — bringing new agents and agencies onto the platform and expanding their use of it.
  2. Convert those same VelociFI customers into AmpliFI channel partners — deploying AmpliFI into their dealerships and driving contract production.

You are the single thread from a customer's first login to long-term revenue. There is no handoff. The breadth and autonomy are real.

Who Thrives Here
  • Operate like an owner. You treat your book of business like a business you own.
  • Run toward ambiguity. When something hasn't been done before, you figure it out — you don't wait for direction.
  • Default to action. You'd rather try, learn, and iterate than wait for the perfect plan.
  • Build the role, not just occupy it. You shape how the job gets done.

If you need a defined process to be productive, this isn't your role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the full post-sale lifecycle: onboarding, training, AmpliFI deployment, support, and retention.
  • Train VelociFI customers on the platform and coach them through deploying AmpliFI at their dealerships.
  • Drive AmpliFI contract production — the primary revenue metric tied to your variable compensation.
  • Manage account health independently: spot churn risk, run retention plays, resolve issues without waiting for escalation.
  • Surface expansion opportunities and feed market intelligence back to product and leadership.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years in account management, customer success, or field sales — ideally in business-to-business software or technology.
  • Track record of running a book of business with high autonomy and owning the outcomes.
  • Evidence of an entrepreneurial mindset: a side project built, a territory run like a profit-and-loss, a program launched from scratch.
  • Strong blend of customer success and sales — you can train in the morning and push for activation in the afternoon.
  • Comfort with revenue-oriented goals and variable compensation.
  • Excellent communication across agency owners, individual agents, and dealership staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in automotive, Finance & Insurance, warranty, or dealer services.
  • Familiarity with the agent and agency distribution model.
  • Founder, operator, or early-hire experience at a startup.
Why Join Carketa
  • Ground-floor opportunity at a company redefining automotive warranty distribution.
  • Direct impact — your work shapes the product, the team, and the market.
  • High-autonomy role with compensation that reflects the breadth of responsibility.
  • Clear path to senior or leadership roles as the function scales.

Carketa is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
