Company Description Hidenwood Pharmacy is a community-focused pharmacy dedicated to providing safe, accurate, and compassionate medication services to individuals and families in Newport News, VA and surrounding areas. The pharmacy emphasizes personalized patient care, clear communication, and collaboration with local healthcare providers to support better health outcomes. Team members work in a supportive environment that values professional integrity, attention to detail, and respect for all patients. Hidenwood Pharmacy is committed to maintaining high standards of pharmacy practice while continuously improving services to meet evolving patient needs. Hidenwood Pharmacy is open Monday - Friday 9am to 7pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm. We are closed on Sundays and all major holidays.

Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Pharmacist role based at Hidenwood Pharmacy in Newport News, VA. The Pharmacist will dispense prescription medications accurately, verify orders, and review patient profiles for potential drug interactions, contraindications, and allergies. Daily responsibilities include counseling patients on proper medication use, side effects, and storage, as well as answering questions in a clear and empathetic manner. The Pharmacist will communicate with prescribers to clarify orders, resolve issues, and support appropriate therapy, while maintaining detailed, compliant records. Additional duties include overseeing pharmacy technicians, ensuring adherence to regulatory and safety standards, managing inventory and controlled substances, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Ability to provide accurate medication dispensing, prescription verification, and clinical review for safety and efficacy.
  • Skills in patient counseling, clear communication, and education regarding medications, side effects, and health conditions.
  • Competence in maintaining regulatory compliance, including state and federal pharmacy laws, controlled substance handling, and documentation.
  • Experience collaborating with healthcare professionals, managing pharmacy workflows, and supervising or mentoring support staff.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and capability to work efficiently in a fast-paced community pharmacy setting.
  • Must have RPh (Registered Pharmacist) license or be recently graduated from pharmacy school and working on Pharmacy License.
  • Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Virginia, or eligibility to obtain licensure before start date.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy management systems, e-prescribing platforms, and basic office software.
  • Commitment to inclusive, respectful patient care and adherence to professional ethics.
  • Previous community or retail pharmacy experience is preferred but not required.
