General Description
The purpose of this work is to perform custodial and janitorial duties of the center assigned. Under immediate supervision, the employee has the responsibility to maintain records regarding food, refrigerator and freezer temperatures and decisions are made on a routine level. He/She has little or no contact with the general public and has no supervisory responsibilities. Must abide by all safety rules and regulations.
Examples of Work Performed
Maintains the facility clean and safe for the children, families and staff assigned to the center.
Maintains temperature logs for the food, refrigerator and freezer.
Distributes food to the classrooms according to attendance.
Washes and sanitizes the dishes in accordance with health standards and recommendations.
Maintains restrooms clean and disinfected and replenishes supplies accordingly.
Sweeps and mops rooms daily.
Maintains buildings and grounds free of safety hazards and litter.
Gathers and disposes of trash and waste.
On occasion, may be asked to supervise the children temporarily.
Assist other personnel whenever necessary.
Must attend all trainings deemed necessary by Executive Director to comply with TDFPS Child Care Minimum Standards, and Performance Standards during the summer months.
Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or Executive Director.
Education and Experience
Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Some experience in custodial work is preferred but not required.
Must have sufficient knowledge of maintenance and custodial duties to perform work as assigned.
Must be Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Must have an automobile and current liability insurance for work related travel.
Must maintain a current skin test (T.B.) and food handler's certificate.
