Purchasing Assistant
Herman Weissker is a leader in construction solutions. Our portfolio provides planning, construction, engineering, design, and management services for large-scale public and private projects serving the gas, utilities, construction services, and high-tech installations. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who enjoy the challenge of working on projects in the growing utility construction industry.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Assistant in our Riverside office working for One Call Construction Services. This position will be located in Riverside, CA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Process and manage purchasing requests from internal departments and SoCalGas.
  • Gather quotes and compare pricing on rentals and purchases
  • Purchase material, equipment, and rentals in a timely manner and at the lowest cost
  • Issue purchase orders and changes as required
  • Investigate and amend invoicing issues and change orders
  • Audit subsidiaries for compliance on purchasing policies
  • Track and monitor multiple active requests simultaneously to meet service level expectations and project deadlines.
  • Provide support to the Billing Department by researching and responding to One Call request inquiries
  • Monitor shared inboxes and manage a high volume of emails, phone calls, and service requests.
  • Maintain proficiency in computerized purchasing/business systems; must be literate and functional with Microsoft Office, Word and Excel

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in construction procurement
  • Construction industry is required
