Job description

The Shop Helper assists all personnel and managers in maintenance tasks as requested and is responsible for maintaining cleanliness of all Shop areas.
Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Ability to take direction for tasks and to learn new skills
  • Provide assistance as needed to all Shop personnel and management
  • Be able to prep vehicles and equipment for painting, including sanding and doing work requiring the use of a respirator or mask
  • Be able to remove wheels and parts on trailers and trucks
  • Must maintain Shop cleanliness in all areas, including areas only accessible by ladder or lift
  • Be able to use computer systems to research and order parts as directed and communicate with vendors
  • Must be able to drive to pick-up or deliver parts as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must have some knowledge of Shop equipment and tools
  • Must be computer proficient
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and work at a variety of heights
  • Excellent computer proficiency
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices

Required Education and Experience:
  • Prefer: Prior Shop or maintenance experience
  • Required: High school diploma or GED

Working Conditions:
  • Indoors/ Outdoors in Shop that may not be heated or cooled
  • Frequent lifting, standing, squatting and walking
  • Dusty environment where use of respirator or face mask may be necessary
  • Facility where chemicals and paint are used
