Job description

Land Survey Helper
We are seeking a dependable Land Survey Helper to assist a professional survey crew with fieldwork at construction sites, roadways, residential developments, and undeveloped property. This position is 100% outdoors and requires working in all seasons and weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. Work is generally canceled during heavy rain.
This is not a physically demanding labor position, but it does require standing, walking, and working outdoors throughout the day.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the survey crew with daily field operations.
  • Carry and position survey equipment, stakes, and markers.
  • Hold survey rods, prisms, and other measuring instruments as directed.
  • Walk construction sites, wooded areas, fields, and uneven terrain.
  • Help load, unload, and maintain survey equipment and company vehicles.
  • Follow directions from the Survey Crew Chief.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors 100% of the time in hot, cold, humid, and windy conditions.
  • Comfortable walking several miles throughout the day on uneven ground.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license is preferred.
Work Environment
  • Outdoor work year-round in varying weather conditions.
  • Work takes place on construction sites, roadways, residential developments, farms, and undeveloped land.

Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who enjoys being outdoors, is dependable, follows directions well, and takes pride in helping a team complete accurate survey work. No previous surveying experience is required—we're willing to train the right candidate with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
They are willing to train someone. They will offer the higher rate to candidates that show manual work experience. He conducts interviews (15 mins). Background - no felonies and nothing with children. Will need to run an MVR as well. Go back 5 years and no more than 3 events in that 5 year period. They can take folks with DUI, but not vehicular assault or manslaughter. Disclose background and MVR at submission.
