Job description

We are seeking a dedicated mental health technician with prior experience working with adolescents in a residential treatment setting. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping youth develop emotional regulation, healthy coping skills, and personal responsibility through daily structure, engagement, and support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, safety, and support to residents during all shifts.
  • Maintain visual and auditory awareness of residents to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Facilitate and participate in daily group activities, recreation, and life skills programming.
  • Model appropriate behavior and reinforce positive social interactions.
  • Conduct regular room and safety checks according to facility policy.
  • Assist residents with daily living tasks, hygiene, and personal routines.
  • Accurately document observations, behaviors, interventions, and incidents in the electronic health record.
  • Support residents in implementing their individualized treatment plans as directed by the clinical team.
  • Participate in debriefings and staff meetings to ensure consistency in care.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to crisis situations and follow de-escalation protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold all HIPAA, CARF, and state regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, Human Services, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience working with adolescents in a residential or behavioral health setting required.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Must pass background check, TB test, and drug screening.
  • Current CPR and first aid certification, or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and actively engage with residents throughout the shift.
