Job Title: Helpers โ€“ Production Workers

Department: FAB, FURN, and LAM

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Summary: The Helpers โ€“ Production Worker is responsible for helping Machine Operators by performing duties that include pushing, trimming, holding materials or tools, cleaning, counting and stacking.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Be flexible to work in multiple departments and positions.
  2. Inspect workpieces for smoothness, defects, and measure workpieces to determine accuracy of machine operation using rules, templates, or other measuring devices.
  3. Examine raw Woodstock for defects and verify conformance to quality standards.
  4. Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using lifting tools as required.
  5. Count finished product to determine if product orders are complete.
  6. Mark or tag identification on parts/totes.
  7. Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
  8. Assist other machine operators as needed such as supplying or holding materials or tools, or cleaning work areas and equipment.
  9. Maintain equipment and clean working areas.
  10. Record information, such as the number of products tested, meter readings, or dates and times of production processes.
  11. Follow established company and work area safety policies including the wearing of all required PPEโ€™s.
  12. Follow established company policies, policies and rules outlined in Member Handbook as well as procedures required in the standard operating procedures/work instructions.
  13. Maintains open communication with supervisors, team leaders and material handlers regarding production status (i.e. down time, material shortage, etc.).
  14. Maintains daily production sheets utilizing the correct task codes for production time, down time, scrap, etc.; ensures that daily production totals are accurate.
  15. Assist in maintaining work area (i.e. sweeping, emptying trash, return tools to proper location, etc.).
  16. Other duties and responsibilities as directed by your supervisor.

Work Environment:

The work environment involves moderate risks requiring special safety precautions (i.e. working around moving parts or machines, and utilization of pallet jacks/tools in material handling). The work environment requires safe work practices and the adherence to general safety regulations.

Physical Demands: Climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, and walking. Pushing, pulling and using push cart. Lifting up to 50-75 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Fingering, grasping and feeling. Talking, hearing and repetitive motion. Very heavy work-exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and of constant moving objects. Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures. Subject to noise. Subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, and climbing. Subject to atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system or the skin such as fumes and vapors.
