Job description

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
LOGAN-HOCKING SCHOOL DISTRICT
CLASSIFIED POSITION:     4-day, 6.5-hr. Shared Preschool Attendant @ Central Elementary (Placement with 2 students)
SHIFT TIME:      8:25 AM to 3:35 PM  (Tuesday-Friday)
 





QUALIFICATIONS:   

1. An Associates Degree is preferred, but a high school diploma/GED is acceptable.

      2. Must hold a valid Ohio Educational Aide Permit as defined in section 3319.088 of the O.R.C.

      3. Before the first day of employment:

  • Non-Gulity/non-conviction statement to be completed.
  • Ohio Department of Education BCI & FBI to be completed.
  • Ohio Child Care Resource and Referral Associates (OCCRRA) Account to be created.
  • Department of Job and Family Services BCI & FBI to be completed.
  • Medical Statement to be completed.

4. Must be completed within the first 30 days of employment:

  • CPR
  • First Aid
  • Ohio Child Care Resource and Referral Associates (OCCRRA)  Orientation for new staff - 3 hours

5. Employees must obtain:

  • Communicable Disease training through Ohio Child Care Resource and Referral Associates (OCCRRA)
  • Child Abuse training through Ohio Child Care Resource and Referral Associates (OCCRRA)
  • 10 hours of Ohio Child Care Resource and Referral Associates (OCCRRA) training yearly

      6. Must obtain an Ohio Professional Registry on The Ohio Child Care Resource and Referral Association and meet all Step Up To Quality mandates.

      7. Successfully complete and meet any new standards/rules as defined in 3301-37-04, O.R.C.

      8. Complete CPI Restraint Training upon request.

      9. Such alternatives to the qualifications as the Board of Education and/or the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

CONTRACT STATUS:    9 months

TIME SCHEDULE:        6.5 Hour Work Day (30-minute lunch)

COMPENSATION:        Attendant Salary Schedule


SHIFT TIMES:          8:25 AM to 3:35 PM  (with 1/2 hour unpaid lunch)

JOB GOAL:

The job goal or duties described may vary or be amended to meet the needs of the student. Special education attendants work under the overall supervision of the building principal with direct supervision provided by the intervention specialists. They are employed when required to implement special education or related services for a student and/or to provide direct assistance to a student. Their duties will vary depending upon the age of students served as well as the nature and severity of the student's disabilities. 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Attendants will:

  • Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the classroom teachers.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for the students and monitor their progress.
  • Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
  • Work with other professionals, such as speech therapist, counselor, occupational and physical therapists.
  • Assist classroom teachers with maintaining student records.
  • Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.
  • Help assist with toileting, feeding, and hygiene needs of students if necessary.
  • General aide duties when the student is absent.
  • Other duties as assigned.
