Job description

Job Overview:
St. Mary’s Alexandria is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support our Nursing Services team during the day shift. The LPN will administer medications, assist the Nursing Services Manager, and help provide high-quality health care services to residents on campus. This role ensures that all functions are performed within the scope of practice allowed by law.

Reports To: Nursing Services Manager
Supervision Exercised: Certified Medication Aide (CMA) and Direct Care Professionals (DCP)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care and medical coordination for intellectually disabled clients in a residential/group home setting.
  • Conduct client assessments, maintain Therap documentation, coordinate medical appointments, labs, treatments, and specialist care.
  • Ensure physician orders, medication administration, MARs, narcotic counts, and medical records are accurate and compliant with Title XIX, state, and federal regulations.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, advocate for client well-being, and communicate with physicians, supervisors, and guardians.
  • Train and monitor staff on documentation, medication administration, and client care procedures.
  • Protect client rights, report abuse/neglect concerns, and assist during emergencies, evacuations, and weekend on-call rotations.
  • Assist with policy implementation, staff training, needs assessments, and other duties assigned by leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Valid LPN license in the state of LA.
  • Experience in medication administration and residential health care preferred.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills for managing CMAs and DCPs.
  • Excellent communication and attention to detail.
