This is a heartwarming opportunity for compassionate providers who love making a difference! We work with members throughout Wisconsin to find providers that fit each of their needs. Our goal is to help individuals be in more control of their own supports and to have a say in who is assisting them. This helps them to stay in their own homes as long as possible.
We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and hands-on respite provider to care for a local boy in Chippewa Falls. The ideal person will be easygoing, energetic, and comfortable working with children who have developmental and sensory support needs. Previous experience with children with disabilities or special needs is required.
 
Location: Chippewa Falls (Care location flexible - Child's comfort is most important)
Schedule:
  • Flexible scheduling planned in advance with family
  • Up to 10Hr/Week
    • Preferred availability for Mon/Tues afternoons
Compensation: $10.60/Hr
 
About the Child
He is a fun-loving little boy who is non-verbal, legally blind, and thrives on routine and familiar environments. He enjoys watching CoComelon, bubbles, and being pulled around in his wagon outside. The child connects best with people who are calm, positive, and engaging. If this sounds like you, we strongly encourage you to apply!
 
Responsibilities
  • Provide attentive 1:1 supervision and ensure a safe environment.
  • Change diapers/pull-ups and assist with toileting needs.
  • Prepare and offer meals/bottles (a special bottle milk blend).
  • Engage in age-appropriate play such as bubbles, outdoor walks in his wagon, swinging, and fun activities.
  • Support safe mobility by providing guidance.
  • Monitor for elopement concerns/advances.
  • Follow his routines and assist with needs as they arise.
  • Remain calm and supportive during moments of frustration or behavioral challenges.
  • Be open to transitioning care locations as the child becomes comfortable.
Safety & Support Needs
  • The child is legally blind and is non-verbal.
  • Needs guidance navigating his environment.
  • Wears diapers/pull-ups.
  • Can become very focused on CoComelon and screen time.
  • May scream or scratch when frustrated or unable to get what he wants.
  • Should never be left unattended near windows due to banging/safety concerns.
We're Looking For Someone Who Is
  • Pet friendly.
  • Comfortable working with children who have disabilities or special needs.
  • Experience in seizure disorders is a plus.
  • Reliable, patient and easy going.
  • Able to stay attentive and prioritize safety.
  • Willing to build a trusting relationship and become part of the child's routine.
  • Able to pass a caregiver/criminal background check.
  • Reliable transportation, valid drivers license, and authorized to work in the United States.
