Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) - School-Based
Location: Litchfield County, CT

Onward Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join our school-based team in Litchfield County, Connecticut. The BCBA will play a critical role in supporting students with behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental needs by designing and implementing evidence-based behavior intervention programs. This position focuses on improving student outcomes through the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) while collaborating closely with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities: Behavioral Assessment & Evaluation
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to identify the underlying causes and functions of challenging behaviors.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret behavioral data to identify trends, triggers, and environmental factors impacting student success.
  • Develop recommendations and actionable plans based on assessment findings.
Behavior Intervention Planning
  • Develop and implement individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) based on assessment results.
  • Design evidence-based strategies to increase appropriate behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
  • Teach and reinforce replacement behaviors that promote student independence and success.
Consultation, Training & Staff Support
  • Provide training, coaching, and ongoing support to teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school personnel.
  • Model effective behavioral intervention techniques and classroom management strategies.
  • Collaborate with school staff to ensure consistent implementation of intervention plans across settings.
Data Collection & Progress Monitoring
  • Develop systems for collecting and monitoring behavioral data.
  • Analyze student progress and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Make data-driven recommendations and adjust strategies as needed to maximize student outcomes.
Collaboration & Family Engagement
  • Partner with teachers, school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, administrators, and other service providers.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide behavioral expertise to support student goals.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers to promote consistency between school and home environments.
Classroom & School-Wide Support
  • Recommend classroom and environmental modifications to encourage positive behavior and reduce behavioral triggers.
  • Support the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and other school-wide behavioral initiatives.
  • Help create safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments for all students.
Qualifications:
  • Active Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification required.
  • Master's degree in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience conducting FBAs and developing and implementing BIPs.
  • Strong understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and evidence-based practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous school-based experience preferred.
