Job description

Surgery Veterinarian - Independent Contractor

Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP), a 501(c)3 Nonprofit Organization, is seeking Contract Surgery Veterinarians to perform spay and neuters in one or more of our clinics throughout the DFW metroplex.

TCAP is a high-volume, high-quality (HVHQ) spay / neuter and animal welfare organization that works to better the lives of companion animals and the people who love them.

The surgeon performs 35-60 spay/neuters each day on shelter, public animals, and community cats.  Production occurs in a 6-8 hour shift, depending on the surgeon’s speed. The surgery schedule is built in partnership with the veterinarian.  It reflects their proficiency as they adjust to HVHQ spay/neuter.

Open to a shared position between two veterinarians with part time hours.

We Offer:

  • Flexible Schedule
  • No On-Call Shifts
  • No Nights or Weekends
  • Full-Staffed Clinic
  • Limited Interaction with Clients
  • No Staff Management
  • Equipped Operating Room
  • Earnings Based on Production

Responsibilities:

  • Sterilize pets in a high-volume setting
  • Provide oversight to veterinary assistants and technicians
  • Examine patients that arrive for surgical rechecks and make recommendations for treatment or provide necessary care

Requirements:

  • Maintain an active TX state veterinary license and PLIT coverage.
  • License in good standing including necessary continuing education requirements
  • Experience performing high volume, high quality spay/neuter surgeries preferred, but not required for the right candidate
  • Current DEA license may be required.

Staff:

Our clinic team consists of a surgical veterinarian, a wellness veterinarian, two skilled and experienced HVHQ spay/neuter veterinary technicians, a veterinary assistant, and a clinic manager. Veterinarians are contract employees.  All other staff are overseen by TCAP's administrative team. TCAP has 8 locations in the DFW metroplex.

TCAP employs experienced and caring veterinary assistants and technicians who work alongside and support our veterinary team during our surgery clinics. Our compassionate employees and our amazing shelter and rescue partners throughout North Texas help us in the fight against euthanasia throughout DFW.

Our Organization:

TCAP was established in 2002 to provide an affordable way to spay and neuter pets. Since that time, TCAP has opened eight storefront clinics. We’ve also added a variety of services including low-cost vaccines, microchipping, heart worm testing and prevention, and dental cleanings. TCAP’s standard prices are, on average, 87% less than what traditional veterinary clinics charge.
