Job description

Medrina is a large, physician-owned, multi-specialty medical group that has been a national leader for over 15 years. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Director to join our team in the Augusta, GA market.

This is an excellent opportunity for a physician who enjoys providing high-quality patient care while taking on a leadership role within the post-acute care setting. The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex adult and geriatric patients and will provide clinical oversight, collaborate with advanced practice providers, and help ensure the delivery of exceptional care within Acute Rehab Facilities ARF.

The Medical Director will oversee patient care, support APP providers, collaborate with facility teams, and serve as a clinical leader within the market.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical oversight and leadership for assigned Acute Rehab Facilities ARF 
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions in adult and geriatric patients
  • Provide comprehensive care for medically complex patients in the post-acute setting
  • Collaborate with nurse practitioners, facility staff, specialists, and interdisciplinary care teams
  • Review and support APP clinical decision-making and patient management
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed
  • Promote quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based care practices
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, facility partners, and healthcare teams

Preferred Experience:

  • Physician with experience in internal medicine, family medicine, or hospital medicine
  • Experience managing adult and geriatric patient populations
  • Comfortable working in skilled nursing facilities, inpatient rehabilitation, long-term care, acute care, or other post-acute settings
  • Strong clinical judgment and leadership abilities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Passion for improving outcomes for medically complex patients

Required Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine
  • Active medical license in Georgia
  • Active DEA license
  • Minimum of (1) year of clinical experience preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, APPs, and facility partners

Physical Requirements:  

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting while working with patients as well as working on a computer. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. 
  • May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.) and chemical hazards. 
  • Must wear the required PPE per company and/or facility requirement. 
  • Must comply with facility vaccination requirements.
