JOB DESCRIPTION

You must have a MAVworks financial aid award to work at the library.
CMU's Tomlinson Library has Work Study/MavWorks positions open to staff the Research Help Desk to help provide friendly, knowledgeable research assistance including (but subject to modification):
  • Greeting all patrons who approach the Research Help Desk.
  • Answering basic questions regarding library and university (e.g., directional questions).
  • Providing support to patrons having difficulty finding items in the building.
  • Referring patrons or questions to Librarian on duty as needed.
  • Helping with hourly patron counts and other building walk-throughs.
  • Staffing our virtual reference (chat) service (referring questions to Librarians as needed).
  • Assisting with Interlibrary Loan processes as needed.
  • Assisting librarians with events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

We are currently looking to fill in various times during the weekdays between 8am-9pm and on Saturdays 10am-5pm and Sunday 1pm-9pm. Our student workers typically work around 10 hours a week depending on availability.
