Job Summary:

A Physical Therapy Assistant who provides coordinated physical therapy to patients of all age groups under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

Education and Licensure:

Graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy assistant with an Associate Degree in Physical Therapy. Current Texas State License to participate in physical therapy.

Experience:

Two years experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant preferred.

Skills:

Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies. Good interpersonal skills.

Physical and Mental Effort:

Ability to do heavy lifting, blending, pulling, pushing and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psycho-social needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Essential Functions:

  • Administers the physical therapy treatment plan as developed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Administers non-complex active and passive manual therapeutic exercise, therapeutic massage, traction, heals, light, cold, water and electrical modalities to patients.
  • Applies concepts of infection control and universal precautions in performing patient care activities.
  • Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with educational and competence to care for patients.
  • Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills.
  • Meets mandatory continuing education requirements.
  • Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third-party payers, though education, coaching, and other assistance as necessary.
  • Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
