Loan Specialist II

The Loan Specialist II supports Loan Originators, Underwriters and Borrowers with the mortgage loan process. The Loan Specialist II manages the borrower relationship from application to closing while ensuring all necessary steps are in accordance with internal policies and procedures.

Classification: Full-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Department: Residential and Consumer Lending

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to effectively and independently process and close a minimum pipeline of 30 loans.
  • Present oneself to co-workers and customers in a senior level manner of professionalism such as; take independent initiative to troubleshoot and resolve problems, be proactive to clear loans to close quickly, be proactive to avoid problems arising, mentor LSI evolving into LSII.
  • Ability to produce a compliant initial Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure.
  • Processes all residential, HELOAN and HELOC loan applications from application to closing in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Develops and maintains a strong understanding of residential lending products and product guidelines. To include: processes and required documentation for: Government-Sponsored Enterprise (GSE), Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Veterans Affairs (VA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and portfolio products, as required.
  • Uses current knowledge of residential lending policies, processes to ensure all necessary loan guidelines are completed.
  • Reviews data in loan operating system (LOS), obtains essential documentation and prepares file for initial underwriting; including receipt of signed disclosures, intent to proceed, requests 3rd party services and performs initial contact with borrower.
  • Responds to borrower (internal/external) questions in a timely, professional and efficient manner regarding all loan related issues.
  • Keeps interested parties advised of the loan status; delivers commitment letters, updates disclosures and processes denied, rejected or withdrawn files, which includes sending statement of denial to applicants.
  • Manages and monitors Loan Specialist II level loan pipeline report to ensure deadlines and scheduling requirements are met. Communicates any issues or concerns with managers in a timely manner.
  • Ensures all closing packages for first mortgage and home equity loans are prepared in compliance with Bank, regulatory, and investor requirements and meet customer service standards. Reviews Closing Disclosures for accuracy.
  • Collaborates with Attorneys, Branch Managers, Assistant Branch Managers and Loan Officers to schedule first mortgages, home equity loans and lines of credit closings.
  • Works closely with Secondary Market to meet contract delivery dates.
  • Sends closing docs electronically through the Loan Origination System.
  • Assists in the compilation of information for internal and external auditors and examiners.
  • Remains educated on current trends and developments in the industry.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years combined experience processing and closing experience.
  • Proficient with Ellie Mae Encompass or similar LOS system required
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
