What You'll Do

As the High School Special Education Teacher, you'll lead a classroom of 6-8 neurodivergent students, helping them build academic, functional, and social-emotional skills through hands-on, engaging instruction and predictable routines. You'll work closely with a strong high school team of other ed specialists, behavior specialists, clinicians and families to ensure that each child's individualized needs are supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver developmentally appropriate, differentiated instruction across core subject areas
  • Support foundational literacy, numeracy, communication, and executive functioning skills
  • Create a classroom environment that promotes predictability, safety, and connection
  • Implement visual supports, sensory strategies, and structured routines
  • Lead the IEP process, including goal development, progress monitoring, and meetings
  • Collaborate closely with aides, therapists, and families
  • Celebrate student progress and encourage self-expression and confidence

What You Bring

  • A valid California Education Specialist Credential (Mild/Moderate Support Needs or Moderate/Severe), or eligibility for intern status
  • Experience teaching neurodivergent students, particularly those with autism
