Job description

FOR USE BY IT AND HSIS ONLY: To implement data network security measures in support of the UAB Information Security Program. To operate and monitor information security tools and systems while assisting in providing security for network, web, cloud and mobile structures. To perform basic penetration testing or to conduct social engineering and phishing/spear-phishing campaigns to assess risk. This position will commit to fostering an environment of heightened security following Information Technology Security Policies and participating in security training, such as Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), on an annual basis. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

1.Implements data network security measures in support of the UAB Information Security program. 

2. Operates and monitors information security tools and systems while assisting in providing security for network, web, cloud and mobile structures. 

3. Assesses risk by performing basic penetration testing or conducting social engineering and phishing/spear-phishing campaigns. 

4. Assists in mitigation strategy development and researches emerging industry technologies. 

5. May perform security operations and incident response duties. 

6. Performs other duties as assigned.

The primary hours for this position are 9am-6pm.
(Salary: $47,665 - $77,455)

Associate's degree in Information Systems or a related field ( Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems ) and one (1) year of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement. 

Preferred skills: SIEM/Phish Triage/Defender/Python
