What is a hedge fund performance analyst?

A Hedge Fund Performance Analyst is a finance professional responsible for evaluating and reporting on the investment performance of hedge funds. What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a hedge fund performance analyst?

To thrive as a Hedge Fund Performance Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of finance and investment principles, and typically a degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Familiarity with financial modeling, portfolio analytics tools (such as Bloomberg or FactSet), and possibly CFA certification is often required. Additionally, collaborating closely with portfolio managers, risk teams, and operations is crucial to ensure data integrity and support timely, informed decision-making.
