Job description

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a qualified individual to grow the Engineering business. We are looking to attract a Hydrology & Hydraulics Design Lead in either our San Antonio office, Austin office or Dallas-Ft. Worth offices. This person will assist in the acquisition and retention of clients and the optimization of profitability for the company through the development and implementation of engineering services, so that clients’ needs and expectations are exceeded.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a Hydrology & Hydraulics project team.
  • Desired experience should include storm drainage design, stormwater management, BMP analysis and design, stream restoration, MS4 Program Planning, understanding of LID concepts and facility design, floodplain studies, familiarity with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, TR-55 and/or other similar hydrologic, hydraulic and drainage engineering design software.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic studies utilizing HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS and XPStorm. 
  • Prepare and process CLOMR and LOMR applications through local agencies and FEMA.
  • Prepare Storm Water Management Plans for sites with complex drainage.
  • Exercise knowledge of construction process as it relates to permitting and surveying requirements.
  • Practice strong management and client customer service skills.
  • Ensure designated team acts in accordance with:
    • Sound engineering practices
    • Municipal regulations and requirements
    • Client dictated criteria
    • Sensitivity to costs
    • Constructibility of the design
  • Work closely with state and other municipal authorities to ensure all appropriate approvals are granted prior to commencement of construction.
  • Exhibit great attention to detail.
  • Manage multiple projects and multiple team members.
  • Review and approve payables and receivables.
  • Marketing and relationship management.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent industry experience in land development.
  • Proficiency in HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS required.
  • XPStorm experience a plus.
  • TxDOT Experience a plus.
  • P.E. license required.

  • Texas Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) preferred.
  • If operating a motor vehicle for the purpose of completing job duties, must possess a valid Texas Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.

  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
