SCOPE OF POSITION:

Performs a variety of tasks that require manual material handling and the use of hand tools, knives, machinery, and equipment, in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Physically demanding  work which can require the use of some or all body parts and muscle groups.  There are a variety of roles and responsibilities within this title. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions, including but not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Follows work orders, written and oral instructions, uses safety equipment, scales, various hand tools and aids, holding and clamping devices.
  • Uses computer-controlled equipment to select, position and secure automatic , semi-automatic or manual machines.
  • Perform start up/shutdown procedures for thermoformer, and assembles appropriate machine parts and die. Sets up and operates vacuum former machinery to shape plastics. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position, and secure machinery. Monitor machines set points and reports any variations/deviations.
  • Sets up and operates Sonic Welder, adjusts conditions such as feed rate to obtain proper fusion, specifications, and quality of workmanship.  Joins, fabricates, Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. May prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot.
  • Performs quality control inspections, checks, and tests during the manufacture of products. Inspects materials, parts and products at different stages of production. Records observations and may make recommendations for improving processes.

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION: (Minimum Education and/or Experience required)

  • Good hand-eye coordination and upper extremity motor skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate staple guns and punches.
  • Computer literacy
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and smell.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. May have to complete training in area of specialty.
