Hunton Trane, a division of the Hunton Group in Houston, TX, is seeking to hire an Industrial Structural Engineer. This role is responsible for engineering structural systems that support industrial heating, cooling, and utility infrastructure within prospective projects. The Industrial Structural Engineer provides ongoing technical consultation to support sales and business development efforts and works closely with the project management team to execute projects for customers. This individual will also be responsible for developing comprehensive, value-driven structural solutions for industrial facilities, including foundations, equipment support, platforms, and building structures, with an emphasis on constructability, safety, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Come work for an industry leader that has been recognized both locally and nationally as one of the Top Places to Work!
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, analyze, and review structural designs for industrial facilities, including shallow and deep foundations, equipment supports, pipe racks, platforms, retaining walls, and building structures.
  • Perform structural analysis and design of steel and reinforced concrete systems using industry-standard software such as STAAD.Pro, RISA, SAP2000, or equivalent tools.
  • Prepare and review construction drawings, design calculations, technical specifications, and material take-offs in accordance with project requirements.
  • Ensure all structural designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, AWS, OSHA, and client-specific criteria.
  • Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams (process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls) throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Review vendor drawings and submittals, resolve technical issues, and ensure alignment with project specifications and constructability requirements.
  • Participate in hazard analyses, design reviews, and client meetings as a technical contributor.
  • Support project execution through schedule coordination, cost tracking, and progress reporting.
  • This is a full-time, office-based position located at the Hunton Trane office in Houston, Texas.

Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
  • 5-10+ years of industrial structural engineering experience, preferably within an EPC or design-build environment.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering industrial or heavy commercial projects such as data centers, petrochemical facilities, power generation plants, manufacturing facilities, or water/wastewater infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of steel and concrete design principles, structural systems, and industrial construction practices.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis and design software (STAAD.Pro, RISA, RAM, SAP2000, or similar) and CAD tools such as AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or willingness to pursue licensure.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and vendor facilities as needed (estimated less than 5%).
