Operations Support Applicator - Idaho Falls, ID

The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.

Summary

Under general direction, performs a variety of job responsibilities which may include operation of newer model application equipment, delivery of fertilizer and chemical products to customers, equipment and plant maintenance and fertilizer blending.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product application, calibrating application equipment, application equipment maintenance, and cleaning and storing application equipment

  • Assist in loading/mixing/applying pesticides, gaining understanding of the importance of including proper adjuvants, mixing order, temperature, other field/weather conditions potentially influencing application.

  • Loading and delivering fertilizer and chemicals to customers.

  • General plant equipment maintenance and housekeeping responsibilities.

  • Receiving and unloading product deliveries and warehouse/inventory responsibilities.

  • Misc. duties such as special projects, attending provided trainings, providing back-up when/where needed.

Typical Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered for this position

Skills & Relevant Experience

  • Two plus years related experience and/or training

  • Experience operating applicator machines preferred

  • Diesel mechanic, heavy equipment, and /or industrial maintenance experience (augers, belts) preferred

  • Knowledge of basic farm equipment and operation

  • Knowledge of the local geography/roads/farms and ability to develop trust with management that moderate to heavy traffic can be negotiated effectively

  • Agriculture and/or Construction experience a plus

  • Ability to do a variety of tasks in succession, i.e., blending products together, loading a truck, and driving the truck to a farm

  • Ability to assist in equipment rebuilds and perform routine maintenance

  • Ability to calibrate a variety of application equipment?

  • Ability to set up and calibrate injection equipment is a plus

  • Ability to maintain maintenance records for equipment?

  • Basic knowledge in the areas of mechanical, electrical welding and metal fabrication are a plus

Requirements

  • Have or able to obtain a Pesticide Applicator License.

  • Have or able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with endorsement to drive a ten wheeler and trailer with air brakes on the highway; generally referred to as a Class A

  • Have or able to otain endorsements of Tanker and HazMat

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs

  • Must be willing and able to work Ag Industry hours as seasonal needs dictate, which may include:

  • Early mornings/late eveings

  • Weeknds (Saturday)

  • Holidays
