Position Summary:Under the direction of the Senior Director of Healthy Living & Belonging, the Healthy Living Coordinator supports the YMCA's chronic disease prevention and management efforts by coordinating evidence-based health initiatives, supporting program staff, and providing direct service through instruction of select Evidence-Based Health Initiative (EBHI) programs. This role blends hands-on program delivery with coordination, participant support, and community engagement, ensuring high-quality, welcoming, and impactful Healthy Living programs.
Schedule:โข Part-time position ( approximately 20 hours per week)
โข Flexible schedule with occasional evenings as required by programmin
Qualifications:โข Must be at least 18 years of age
โข Experience working in health promotion, wellness, community health, or chronic disease programs preferred
โข Experience with evidence-based health initiatives (EBHI) or similar structured programs strongly preferred
โข Ability to build authentic relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of health conditions
โข Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and program quality
โข Comfortable working with data tracking systems and basic reporting tools (e.g., Daxko, Redcap and similar platforms)
โข CPR/AED and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain)
โข Group Fitness, Health Coaching, or related certification preferred
Work Environment and Physical Demands:- Ability to move throughout the YMCA facilities and community sites
- Occasional lifting of program materials ( up to 35 pounds)
- Ability to participate in and support wellness activities as needed
Essential Functions:โข Coordinate day-to-day operations of Healthy Living and chronic disease prevention programs, including the Diabetes Prevention Program, LIVESTRONGยฎ at the YMCA, blood pressure management, arthritis-friendly movement classes, and other evidence-based initiatives
โข Provide direct program delivery by instructing select Evidence-Based Health Initiative (EBHI) classes (training provided), such as Diabetes Prevention, Blood Pressure Management, arthritis-friendly movement classes, and cancer survivorship programs
โข Support instructors, lifestyle coaches, and volunteers delivering Healthy Living programs
โข Ensure programs are delivered with fidelity to curriculum and YMCA standards
โข Maintain accurate program records, attendance, and participant data
โข Serve as a welcoming point of contact for participants, supporting engagement, retention, and referrals
โข Assist with participant outreach, enrollment, and follow-up
โข Support small-group programs and workshops focused on physical activity, social connection, and overall well-being
โข Collaborate with YMCA staff across departments to ensure a supportive, inclusive experience for health seekers
โข Assist with quality assurance activities and continuous program improvement
โข Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
โข Other duties as assigned
Community Engagement & Partnerships: - Serves as an ambassador for Healthy Living programs within the community
โข Support referral relationships with healthcare providers, public health partners, and community organizations
โข Assist with communication and follow-up related to participant progress when appropriate
