Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Healthy Living & Belonging, the Healthy Living Coordinator supports the YMCA's chronic disease prevention and management efforts by coordinating evidence-based health initiatives, supporting program staff, and providing direct service through instruction of select Evidence-Based Health Initiative (EBHI) programs. This role blends hands-on program delivery with coordination, participant support, and community engagement, ensuring high-quality, welcoming, and impactful Healthy Living programs.
Schedule:
โ€ข Part-time position ( approximately 20 hours per week)
โ€ข Flexible schedule with occasional evenings as required by programmin
Qualifications:
โ€ข Must be at least 18 years of age
โ€ข Experience working in health promotion, wellness, community health, or chronic disease programs preferred
โ€ข Experience with evidence-based health initiatives (EBHI) or similar structured programs strongly preferred
โ€ข Ability to build authentic relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of health conditions
โ€ข Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and program quality
โ€ข Comfortable working with data tracking systems and basic reporting tools (e.g., Daxko, Redcap and similar platforms)
โ€ข CPR/AED and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain)
โ€ข Group Fitness, Health Coaching, or related certification preferred
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • Ability to move throughout the YMCA facilities and community sites
  • Occasional lifting of program materials ( up to 35 pounds)
  • Ability to participate in and support wellness activities as needed

Essential Functions:
โ€ข Coordinate day-to-day operations of Healthy Living and chronic disease prevention programs, including the Diabetes Prevention Program, LIVESTRONGยฎ at the YMCA, blood pressure management, arthritis-friendly movement classes, and other evidence-based initiatives
โ€ข Provide direct program delivery by instructing select Evidence-Based Health Initiative (EBHI) classes (training provided), such as Diabetes Prevention, Blood Pressure Management, arthritis-friendly movement classes, and cancer survivorship programs
โ€ข Support instructors, lifestyle coaches, and volunteers delivering Healthy Living programs
โ€ข Ensure programs are delivered with fidelity to curriculum and YMCA standards
โ€ข Maintain accurate program records, attendance, and participant data
โ€ข Serve as a welcoming point of contact for participants, supporting engagement, retention, and referrals
โ€ข Assist with participant outreach, enrollment, and follow-up
โ€ข Support small-group programs and workshops focused on physical activity, social connection, and overall well-being
โ€ข Collaborate with YMCA staff across departments to ensure a supportive, inclusive experience for health seekers
โ€ข Assist with quality assurance activities and continuous program improvement
โ€ข Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
โ€ข Other duties as assigned
Community Engagement & Partnerships:
  • Serves as an ambassador for Healthy Living programs within the community
