POSITION OVERVIEW
Heartline Staffing is seeking an experienced Healthcare Project Architect for Apogee Consulting Group to lead architectural design, documentation, and construction administration for complex healthcare projects from the Raleigh, North Carolina office.
This full-time position manages the complete project lifecycle, including client programming, spatial planning, design development, construction documentation, multidisciplinary coordination, and on-site construction compliance. The Healthcare Project Architect will work directly with clients, engineers, consultants, contractors, and junior design staff to deliver technically accurate, functional, and high-performing medical environments.
The successful candidate will bring extensive architecture and engineering industry experience, a strong healthcare project portfolio, active architectural licensure, NCARB certification, and the ability to lead projects from early planning through construction completion.
• Lead collaborative architectural and engineering project teams through all phases of design and construction.
• Establish clear project goals, responsibilities, timelines, and communication expectations.
• Work directly with healthcare clients to determine functional and spatial requirements.
• Evaluate medical equipment needs, materials, anticipated costs, and construction schedules.
• Translate client requirements into effective healthcare programming and design solutions.
• Create architectural drawings, construction documents, specifications, and contract documents.
• Develop project layouts and coordinate integrated architectural and engineering systems.
• Present design solutions and project recommendations for client review and approval.
• Review drawings and specifications prepared by junior architects and designers.
• Establish and monitor discipline-specific work plans, deliverables, and technical standards.
• Ensure project documentation remains accurate, coordinated, complete, and compliant.
• Oversee construction contracts and perform on-site reviews to confirm compliance with approved plans.
• Protect design intent throughout the construction phase.
• Coordinate closely with internal engineering teams and external consultants.
• Document project meetings, decisions, responsibilities, and action items.
• Maintain project momentum through proactive communication and detailed follow-through.
• Identify project risks, coordination conflicts, and technical concerns before they affect delivery.
• Provide technical guidance, feedback, and mentorship to junior staff.
• Support the professional development of emerging architects and designers.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Five-year Bachelor's Degree in Architecture. REQUIRED
• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience within the architecture and engineering industry. REQUIRED
• Minimum of six years of experience as a licensed architect. REQUIRED
• Active state architectural license. REQUIRED
• Active NCARB Certification. REQUIRED
• Direct professional experience designing and delivering healthcare projects. REQUIRED
• Experience leading projects through programming, design, documentation, construction administration, and closeout. REQUIRED
• Experience determining healthcare facility functional, spatial, equipment, material, cost, and schedule requirements. REQUIRED
• High proficiency in Revit. REQUIRED
• High proficiency in AutoCAD. REQUIRED
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. REQUIRED
• Experience preparing construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and coordinated project documentation. REQUIRED
• Experience overseeing junior designers and reviewing architectural drawings and specifications. REQUIRED
• Experience coordinating architectural work with engineering disciplines and external consultants. REQUIRED
• Experience performing construction administration and on-site plan compliance reviews. REQUIRED
• Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare clients, contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams. REQUIRED
• Ability to travel up to 20% based on project requirements. REQUIRED
