POSITION SUMMARY

The Integration Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and support of data integration solutions within the InterSystems HealthShare platform. This role focuses on enabling the exchange, transformation, and optimization of clinical and operational data across multiple systems.

The Integration Engineer brings strong technical expertise in healthcare data standards, interface development, and the software development lifecycle, and is able to independently design solutions, develop interfaces, and produce clear technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain bi-directional integrations between HealthShare and external systems (EHRs, certified applications, and partner platforms)

• Build and support interfaces using HL7 v2, HIE, XML, JSON, and batch file processing

• Develop and maintain REST and SOAP web services

• Develop and manage data mappings and transformations across diverse data formats

• Analyze integration requirements and produce clear technical specifications and documentation

• Develop and execute test plans, scripts, and validation processes to ensure data integrity

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize interface performance and data quality

• Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver integration solutions

• Develop advanced SQL queries and support reporting needs

• Ensure compliance with SDLC best practices, data governance, and security standards

TECHNICAL SKILLS & TOOLS

Programming & Technologies:

• ObjectScript, SQL, .NET (C#), Python

• JavaScript frameworks (Node.js, Vue.js; Angular a plus)

• REST and SOAP APIs

• XML, JSON, XSLT

Tools & Platforms:

• InterSystems HealthShare / Ensemble (strongly preferred)

• VS Code, Visual Studio, Studio

• Postman, SSMS, SQL DataLens

• Git / SVN

• Linux/Unix tools (e.g., PuTTY)

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

• 5+ years of experience in software development and system integration

• Hands-on experience with healthcare integration, including HL7 v2 (ADT and clinical messages)

• Experience with CCD/C-CDA document exchange

• Strong understanding of interface engine workflows and data exchange architectures

• Experience with file parsing and transformation (XML, XSLT, etc.)

• Familiarity with X12 transactions is a plus

• Knowledge of object-oriented programming principles preferred

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
