Position Summary
The Senior HL7 Interface Developer is responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, testing, and supporting healthcare integration solutions. This role requires strong hands-on experience with HL7 development, coding, interface design, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate combines business analysis expertise with technical integration skills to translate healthcare requirements into reliable, scalable interface solutions.
Essential Functions / Major Job Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, code, test, debug, and maintain healthcare interfaces and integration workflows.
  • Develop and support HL7 interfaces, including message mapping, transformations, routing, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Analyze and resolve complex interface issues using message logs, debugging tools, and technical investigation.
  • Translate business requirements into integration specifications, technical designs, workflows, and documentation.
  • Partner with healthcare clients, stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams to deliver integration solutions.
  • Support interface development lifecycle activities including requirements gathering, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Create and execute functional, integration, and regression test plans.
  • Maintain interface documentation and support continuous improvement of integration environments.
  • Manage multiple priorities and communicate project status, risks, and resolutions effectively.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare technology, business analysis, interface development, or healthcare integration.
  • Strong Hands-on HL7 coding and development experience is required for this position.
  • Strong knowledge of HL7 v2.x messaging standards and healthcare interoperability workflows.
  • Experience developing, modifying, testing, and troubleshooting healthcare interfaces.
  • Experience with interface engines such as Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, Corepoint, InterSystems Ensemble/HealthShare, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with HL7 message types including ADT, ORM, ORU, and related clinical workflows preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with FHIR and healthcare APIs.
  • Experience supporting hospital or health system integration environments.
  • SQL experience and familiarity with healthcare application databases.
  • Strong technical documentation skills.

Compensation
$90,000 - $127,000 USD
The salary range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education, and location.
