What is a health promotion internship?

A Health Promotion Internship is a temporary position that gives students or recent graduates hands-on experience in promoting healthy behaviors and lifestyles within communities or organizations. Interns typically assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating health education campaigns, collecting data, and supporting community outreach programs. The internship helps develop skills in communication, program management, and public health, making it valuable for those interested in careers in health education or community health.

What types of projects or initiatives do health promotion interns typically work on during their internship?

Health Promotion Interns are often involved in projects such as developing educational materials, planning and facilitating wellness workshops, supporting community outreach events, and conducting health assessments or surveys. They may also assist with social media campaigns, data collection, and program evaluation. These hands-on experiences allow interns to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, gain insight into public health strategies, and contribute directly to improving community well-being.

To thrive as a Health Promotion Intern, you need a foundation in public health principles, research, and effective communication, often supported by coursework in health sciences or a related field. Job description

Position Overview

Humanistic Counseling, LLC is seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our innovative team. This full-time remote position allows you to provide essential mental health services to clients across the country from the comfort of your own home. As a counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals in their mental health journey, employing your expertise and compassionate approach to facilitate effective therapeutic outcomes.

About the Organization

At Humanistic Counseling, LLC, we are committed to breaking down barriers to mental health care. Our online platform connects qualified counselors with clients who need assistance, ensuring that individuals from diverse backgrounds can access support when they need it most. Our mission is to foster a community of healing, promoting mental well-being through professional, empathetic care.

Work Environment

In this remote position, you will enjoy a flexible work environment that promotes a healthy work-life balance. While collaborating with a team of dedicated mental health professionals, you will have access to our cutting-edge telehealth platform, which facilitates seamless communication with clients. Your schedule will be adaptable, allowing you to manage your time efficiently while delivering quality care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct remote comprehensive assessments to gain insight into clients' mental health challenges, and develop tailored treatment plans to address their unique needs.
  • Provide individual therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy.
  • Establish therapeutic goals in collaboration with clients and continuously monitor their progress to ensure effective treatment.
  • Utilize our platform to offer teletherapy services, catering to the needs of clients who prefer virtual interaction or face accessibility challenges.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client interactions to comply with ethical and regulatory standards.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities, including training sessions, workshops, and conferences to enhance your clinical skills and remain current with emerging practices.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with individuals who are pre-screened, stable, and present with low-acuity mental health concerns. This dynamic allows you to focus on providing high-quality therapeutic support without the complexities associated with higher acuity cases. Your clients will appreciate your ability to tailor sessions to their specific needs, fostering an encouraging and supportive environment.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related mental health field.
  • An active professional license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Please note that we cannot accept applications from interns or those with limited permits.
  • Proficiency in managing client schedules independently, demonstrating exceptional organizational skills and effective time management.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to ensure clarity and empathy in client interactions.
  • Absolutely no disciplinary actions on your professional license.
Preferred Experience

While we require at least three years of experience, candidates with extensive backgrounds in providing therapy for diverse populations will stand out. Familiarity with telehealth delivery models is a plus, as is experience in multidisciplinary team settings. Your ability to use digital platforms for client engagement will enhance your effectiveness in this role.

Compensation and Benefits

As a full-time counselor, you can expect an annual salary between $115,000 to $130,000, commensurate with your experience and qualifications. Additionally, you will receive a monthly healthcare stipend to support your health and wellness needs. Other benefits include:

  • Completely remote work environment to promote flexibility.
  • Access to the platform’s services as a client at no cost, so you can experience the therapeutic process firsthand while you contribute your skills.
  • Extraordinary flexibility in work schedules, enabling you to self-manage your caseload and personal commitments.

At Humanistic Counseling, LLC, we believe in fostering the growth and professional development of our staff. By providing access to continuing education programs, mentorship opportunities, and a collaborative work culture, we empower our counselors to excel in their professions and advance their careers within the field of mental health.
