How you'll contribute
A Health Information Management Director who excels in this role:
  • Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
  • Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Ensures department stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care.

What we're looking for
Health Information Management Director:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred
    Applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education
  • Certifications: RHIT or RHIA
  • Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Position serves both internal co-workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors.
    • Access to and/or works with sensitive and/or confidential information.
    • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA). Skilled in the application of policies and procedures. Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensures quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff
