Job description

Job Description:Responsible for maintaining the corporate insurance coverage and or alternate risk financing program to protect the assets of John Muir Health. Institutes a proactive risk financing program to minimize uninsured losses to the organization. Administer claims for various casualty and property policies and track them throughout their life cycle.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration - Required or

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Services Administration - Required or

  • Bachelor's Degree Related Field - Required

  • JD (Juris Doctorate) - Preferred

  • Master's Degree - Preferred

Experience:

  • 6 years Risk Management - Property and Casualty Insurance - Required or

  • 6 years Risk Management - Self Insured Risk Retention Group - Required or

  • 6 years Risk Management - Healthcare - Required

  • Legal - Corporate - Preferred

  • Healthcare - Administration - Preferred

Additional Experience:

  • General business administration experience at a management and or analytical level - Preferred

Certifications/Licensures:

  • CPHRM - Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management - Preferred
    Related Certification - Preferred

Essential Job Functions:


Operational Risk and Insurance Management

  • Manages the operational aspects of the Health System's risk financing function. This includes completing the timely renewal of insurance policies,adapting insurance coverage to accommodate operational changes, and maintenance of a schedule of corporate insurance policies.

  • Manages the insurance broker, outside consultant, and auditor relationships to review coverage for appropriateness to ensure compliance with bondfinancing instruments and minimize uninsured exposures and losses.

  • Fosters a collegial relationship with various employees with risk management responsibilities in the Health System to promote organizationalunderstanding of the insurance and risk financing programs.

  • Procure and maintain John Muir Medical Group, John Muir Specialty Medical Group, John Muir Cardiovascular Medical Group, and John Muir HealthCancer Medical Group casualty and workers compensation insurance in coordination with the Foundation Medical Group's senior administration.

  • Communicate physician additions and deletions to insurance underwriters, premium changes, and general renewal coverage information to senioradministration of each group.

  • Assist various affiliated joint venture companies with acquiring insurance coverage as directed by Health System senior management.


Claims Administration

  • Administer claims for various policies including directors and officers, employment practices, cyber, pollution, crime, fiduciary, property, auto, and generalliability. Provide timely written notification to insurers. Follow-up and monitor claims after submission. Respond to insurance carrier inquiries and requestsfor information involving filed casualty and property claims.

  • Active participation and collaboration with corporate Legal Services and Human Resources on the litigation management and resolution of employmentpractices claims.


Contract Management

  • Contract review of insurance provisions within third party agreements, including leases, in conjunction with corporate Legal Services, to minimizeuninsured losses.

  • Provide daily point of service for Health System staff for certificates of insurance, amendments, and or questions involving coverage or liability issues.


Insurance management

  • Prepares annual insurance budget and monitors actual cost against budget throughout the fiscal year.

  • Negotiate appropriate insurance coverage and terms to maximize value and minimize premium expense.

This position is on-site at 5003 Commercial Circle in Concord.

Work Shift:Exempt Salaried (United States of America)

Pay Range:

$124,027.00 - $186,041.00Salary
Offer amounts are based on demonstrated/relevant experience and/or licensure.
Pay will be adjusted to the local market if hired outside of the Bay Area.

Note: Positions at JMH which are exempt (not eligible for overtime) under the level of Manager are listed as hourly for compensation purposes on this posting. The work shift will contain the word 'exempt' on it.
