The Student Health Insurance Administrator is responsible for coordinating the administration, compliance, enrollment, reporting, and communication functions of the University of Idaho Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP) and health insurance requirement processes. This position serves as the primary resource for students, parents, university departments, insurance vendors, and third-party administrators regarding health insurance requirements, enrollment procedures, benefit information, and compliance activities.
The Administrator independently manages complex administrative processes related to student health insurance enrollment, auditing, reporting, and records management while supporting program evaluation, financial reconciliation, policy development, and student outreach initiatives.

Position Qualifications
Required Experience
  • Two years of experience in program coordination, insurance administration, compliance administration, student services, business operations, or a related field
Required Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
Required Other
  • Experience and knowledgeable of health insurance terminology, enrollment processes, and benefit administration
  • Experience managing health insurance enrollment, eligibility, compliance, or auditing processes
  • Experience with financial reconciliation, account management, or insurance billing processes
Additional Preferred
  • Experience working in policy management and compliance enforcement
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience managing complex records and confidential information
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and customer service skills
  • Experience interpreting and applying policies, rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Experience developing, translating, and presenting complex technical information in a clear manner to both small and large audiences
  • Experience using computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, email systems, internet research tools, and data management applications
