Research Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Department of Biostatistics, Health Informatics and Data Science โ€“ University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH.

Job Overview

The Department of Biostatistics, Health Informatics and Data Sciences at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine focuses on education, research, and team science involving biomedical data sciences and informatics. The department has 12 fullโ€‘time faculty, a PhD program in Biomedical Informatics, and a PhD program in Biostatistics and Data Sciences. It offers rich collaborative opportunities in basic, translational, and clinical research.

We are seeking a fullโ€‘time faculty member to establish an independent research program in methodological and collaborative research focused on Generative Artificial Intelligence and its applications in healthcare and biomedicine. The ideal candidate holds a PhD and demonstrates strong methodological expertise in generative AI, machine learning, decision support methods, and the evaluation and validation of AIโ€‘driven decision support systems in medical and clinical settings.

The candidate should have a strong research record with peerโ€‘reviewed publications and extramural funding, and formal training in at least two of the following areas: biostatistics, data sciences, computational methods in biodata sciences, knowledge retrieval, or informatics.

Responsibilities will include collaborating on cuttingโ€‘edge research, advancing AI methodologies in healthcare, mentoring students and trainees, and contributing to the departmentโ€™s educational mission by developing and teaching one or more courses on generative AI applications in healthcare and medicine.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and maintain an externally funded research program.
  • Apply AI expertise in team science projects.
  • Develop and teach one or more courses on generative AI applications in healthcare and medicine.
  • Advise graduate students, research associates, and faculty.
Minimum Requirements
  • PhD degree with formal training in at least two of the following areas: biostatistics, data sciences, computational methods, knowledge retrieval, or informatics.
  • Strong publication record in peerโ€‘reviewed journals.
  • Associate Professor-level candidates should have a strong record of extramural funding.
Required Experience
  • Successful record of research funding for Associate or Professor rank.
  • Strong record of publications.
  • Experience mentoring research faculty and trainees.
