Job description

Overview:ย 

The Informatics Product Lead will serve as the primary Informatics partner to Product, Engineering, and Client Services teams for data-involved products, with initial emphasis on Inovalon's de-identified data platform and RWD use cases. Reporting directly to the AVP, Informatics, this role is responsible for ensuring that data requirements, testing strategies, impact assessments, client escalations, and release sign-off processes incorporate a rigorous informatics lens without slowing product delivery.ย 

Duties and Responsibilities:ย 

  • Product Informatics Leadership: Serve as the Informatics lead for data platform and RWD product engagement, participating in data-involved design discussions, backlog grooming, requirements review, prioritization, testing strategy, and release readiness activities.
  • Client Services Escalation Support: Act as the Informatics support for client-reported data concerns, partnering with Client Services, Product, and Engineering to clarify issues, assess severity, determine likely root cause, and route work to relevant teams as appropriate.
  • Release Sign-Off Coordination: Coordinate Informatics review and sign-off for data-involved releases, including review of schema, logic, content, data quality evidence, impact analysis, and known risks within agreed-upon SLAs and escalation paths.
  • Testing and Impact Analysis: Define and execute informatics-informed test scenarios, acceptance criteria, regression checks, and impact assessments for clinical, membership, provider, source, and product logic changes.
  • Cross-Functional Requirements Translation: Translate clinical, data, and operational concerns into clear requirements, testable acceptance criteria, and decision-ready summaries for Product, Engineering, DQ Engineering, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Product Logic and Data Standards Review: Review product logic, source integration decisions, data transformations, and clinical/business rules to identify risks related to quality, usability, interpretation, consistency, and client-facing deliverables.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify patterns in escalations and release reviews that should become reusable standards, test cases, documentation, data quality rules, or upstream product requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with Inovalon's policies, procedures and mission statement.
  • Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalon's Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position.

Job Requirements:ย 

  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare data, clinical informatics, data quality, analytics, or a related field with a Bachelor's degree required; or
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare data, clinical informatics, data quality, analytics, or a related field with a Master's degree required.
  • Healthcare Data Expertise: Strong working knowledge of claims, EHR, membership/enrollment, provider, clinical, and real-world data environments, including common data quality and interpretation challenges.
  • SQL Skills: Proficiency in SQL for querying, analyzing, validating, and explaining large-scale healthcare datasets and client-reported data issues.
  • Product Experience: Demonstrated experience partnering with Product and Engineering teams in agile environments, including backlog review, requirements clarification, acceptance criteria, testing, release readiness, and operational escalation management.
  • Communication: Ability to synthesize complex data issues into clear written summaries, executive-ready recommendations, client-ready explanations, and actionable requirements for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple escalations, release reviews, stakeholder requests, and product workstreams in a fast-paced environment while maintaining clear prioritization and follow-through.
  • Preferred Experience: Experience supporting RWD products, clinical analytics products, data quality programs, client-facing healthcare platforms, identity management workflows, or data governance operating models preferred.ย 

Education:ย 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Informatics, Medical Informatics, Computer Science, Health Information Management, Nursing, Pharmacy, Analytics, or a related field required.
  • Master's Degree in Medical Informatics, Health Informatics, Business Analytics, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Relevant professional certifications, such as AHIC, CPHIMS, RHIA, CCS, CHDA, or equivalent experience, a plus.ย 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:ย 

  • Sedentary work (i.e. sitting for long periods of time);
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force; ย 
  • Frequently or constantly lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects and repetitive motions;
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions
  • Travel for this position will include less than 10-15% as needed to perform job responsibilities.ย
