Job description
- Teach undergraduate courses in health sciences, especially practica and upper-level courses in health informatics, healthcare information systems, data analytics, programming, privacy/security, project management, amp;/or health equity/SDOH.
- Advise and mentor students, including support for practicum and capstone experiences.
- Coordinate with adjunct faculty to ensure alignment of learning outcomes, course quality, and student experience across the BSHS curriculum.
- Build and sustain community partnerships that support practica, interprofessional learning, and career pathways.
- Participate in service to the College, program development, recruitment, and program assessment.
- Attend faculty meetings and College events such as Baccalaureate, Commencement, and convocations; participate in Faculty-Staff Institutes at the beginning of each semester.
- Serve on College committees and participate in shared governance and the general administrative work of the College.
- Participate in recruitment, professional development workshops, and other programming as assigned by the Dean of Faculty or Chief Academic Officer.
- Develop a research program and contribute to the published scientific literature; engage in professional development and maintain awareness of current developments in the field.
- Actively pursue outside funding.
- A doctoral degree in Health Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Health Administration, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a closely related field preferred.
- Experience working with two or more of the following: healthcare data standards, interoperability, EHR systems, HIEs, data governance, or health information management.
- Evidence of commitment to student mentoring, inclusive pedagogy, and mission-centered education.
- Ability to contribute to program leadership, curriculum development, and assessment.
- Evidence of effective undergraduate teaching in the health sciences
- Experience with CAHIIM accreditation and competency mapping, program assessment, or CAHIIM -aligned curriculum development.
- CAHIIM or other relevant certifications/credentials (ex: Epic/Cerner, RHIA, RHIT, CPHIMS, HL7, FACHE).
- Record of research and/or community-engaged practice that demonstrates a commitment to health equity, women’s health, and/or improving outcomes for marginalized populations.
- Experience supervising internships, practica, service learning, amp;/or capstone projects.
- Experience working successfully with diverse students and in an HBCU or similarly mission-driven academic environment.
