What Are Health Informatics Internship Opportunities?
Health informatics, also called health information systems, utilizes software and applications to compile, organize, and analyze health records to improve patient care. Students in health informatics programs must complete a health informatics internship before they graduate. Because health informatics is such a diverse field, your job duties depend on the discipline you pursue. You may work in applications, record management, research, medical decision support, or engineering. As a student intern, you may be assigned to administrative duties, entering data and processing documents, while shadowing professionals in the field. You may also focus on machine learning and other emerging technologies used in the clinical setting.

Job description
Health Informatics Advisory Council Member Role
The Brandeis University Division of Graduate Professional Studies invites applicants for a volunteer advisory council role to help shape the future of our Master of Science in Health Informatics program. We are seeking experienced leaders in the industry who are passionate about mentoring the next generation of health informatics professionals. Ideal candidates bring strategic, operational, or executive-level leadership experience.
As a member of the advisory council, you will offer industry guidance and expertise, serve as an ambassador for the program within your network, and evaluate degree program goals and curriculum to ensure graduates acquire the essential skills needed to succeed in today’s organizations. Advisory council membership is a volunteer position.
Term and meetings:
Advisory council members serve a two-year term, with the possibility of renewal. The term appointment will be September 2026 - August 2028. At any point in time, should you become inactive or no longer able to participate in a sufficient manner, the Brandeis team will reach out to reassess. The advisory council consists of approximately 8-12 members.
The council will meet virtually 2-3 times a year for 1-1.5 hour(s). These meetings will vary in topic around curriculum, marketing, corporate partnerships, and industry trends. We rely on your attendance, participation, and expertise for our community to innovate and remain competitive in today's environment.
Additional participation opportunities:
- Hosting/participating in career and industry-related panels or webinars
- Providing content for the Brandeis Online blog
- Sharing Brandeis programs, events, and updates with your professional network
- Connecting the partnerships team with contacts within your organization/network
- Identifying potential guest speakers and faculty
- Mentoring students (career guidance, industry-related questions)
- Supporting the development of special topic courses and microcredentials
- Sharing internship/job opportunities for students
