Health Educators are professionals who teach people about behaviors that promote wellness. They develop and implement strategies to improve the health of individuals and communities, often working in schools, public health departments, healthcare facilities, or nonprofit organizations. Their duties typically include assessing community health needs, creating educational programs and materials, and advocating for improved health resources and policies. Health Educators also collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of their interventions. Their ultimate goal is to empower people to make informed decisions about their health.

What is a health educator?

Health educators are community health care advocates who provide health education to people in a variety of settings such as schools and community centers. Duties and responsibilities of health educators include teaching people about healthy lifestyles, nutrition, exercise, and preventing certain conditions and injuries. The job of a health educator is to use their training, skills, and qualifications to increase awareness of common health issues. Some health educators focus their work on underserved communities where health education is difficult to find.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a health educator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Health Educator, you need a strong background in public health, health promotion, and educational techniques, typically supported by a bachelor's degree in health education or a related field. Familiarity with tools like curriculum development software, data analysis platforms, and, often, the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) credential is important. Excellent communication, cultural competency, and organizational skills help Health Educators effectively engage diverse populations and foster positive behavior change. These abilities are crucial for delivering impactful health programs, evaluating outcomes, and improving community well-being.

What challenges do health educators face when engaging diverse communities, and how can they be addressed?

Health Educators often encounter challenges such as language barriers, cultural differences, and varying levels of health literacy when working with diverse populations. To address these, it’s important to tailor educational materials to be culturally relevant and accessible, use interpreters or translated resources as needed, and build trust by collaborating with community leaders. Flexibility, ongoing training, and active listening are key strategies for effectively engaging and supporting community members.

We are always seeking to connect with top performers who thrive on cultivating lasting client relationships, consistently exceed revenue goals, and understand that exceptional hospitality is the foundation of successful luxury sales.

If you have built an outstanding reputation within the wine industry, with an established network of collectors, repeat clientele, concierge partners, or luxury hospitality contacts, and want to continue to leverage those relationships at one of Napa Valley's most iconic wineries, we'd love to hear from you.

ABOUT US

Passion, dedication, and perseverance have been the guiding principles of Hess Persson Estates since Donald Hess founded the winery in 1978. Today, under the leadership of the next generation of the Hess family, we continue to craft world-renowned Napa Valley wines while delivering unforgettable luxury experiences.

We believe our greatest asset is our people. We foster a culture of collaboration, professional development, accountability, and excellence, where exceptional performance is recognized and celebrated.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as a luxury brand ambassador, delivering personalized hospitality experiences for collectors, VIPs, trade partners, club members, and discerning wine enthusiasts.
Drive premium wine sales through meaningful client relationships, consultative selling, and thoughtful follow-up that extends well beyond the tasting experience.
Consistently achieve and exceed individual sales goals, average order value, and wine club acquisition objectives.
Develop, manage, and expand a personal portfolio of repeat clients through proactive outreach, phone and email sales, personalized recommendations, and concierge-level service.
Leverage an existing network of collectors, luxury clientele, or hospitality partners to generate new business opportunities whenever possible.
Conduct engaging tastings and tours while confidently communicating Hess Persson Estates' wines, history, vineyard practices, and family legacy.
Identify opportunities for additional purchases, club memberships, large-format sales, corporate gifting, and private experiences.
Collaborate with the DTC and Marketing teams on client development initiatives, special events, and strategic sales campaigns.
Maintain accurate customer information and sales activity using POS and reservation systems.
Stay current on industry trends, competitive wineries, luxury hospitality, and wine education.
Support the overall operation of the Visitor Center, including merchandising, inventory support, presentation standards, and other hospitality responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess:

5+ years of luxury wine sales or luxury hospitality sales experience, with a demonstrated history of consistently ranking among the top sales performers within their organization.
A verifiable track record of exceeding revenue goals, increasing average transaction value, and developing long-term customer loyalty.
An existing network of wine collectors, club members, luxury travelers, concierge partners, or high-net-worth clientele is strongly preferred.
Exceptional consultative sales skills with the ability to build trust and foster lasting client relationships.
A passion for luxury hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
Strong knowledge of fine wine, preferably supported by formal wine education (WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers, CSW, or equivalent), or a commitment to continued wine education.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with confidence engaging sophisticated clientele.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently manage client follow-up and sales opportunities.
Proficiency with POS, CRM, reservation systems, and direct-to-consumer sales platforms.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid California driver's license.
Availability to work weekends, holidays, and winery events.

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS & PERKS

Competitive hourly rate plus tips, commission on overall sales, and wine club sign-up bonuses.
