Job description

Under the general supervision of the Chair of Psychiatry and in direct collaboration with supervising physicians, performs duties a wide range of clinical tasks. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner’s primary role in the Behavioral Health Department is to provide psychiatric evaluations, consultations in the Emergency Department and on the patient floors. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is an essential member of the Behavioral Health team committed to providing comprehensive and efficient patient care that provides the best possible experience and individualized care for the This position ensures the quality and safe delivery of care to patients of adult patients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Advanced Practice Nursing Degree from an accredited school with specialization in psychiatric/mental health nursing required. 
  • Experience: Previous experience required as a psychiatric nurse practitioner preferably in an inpatient setting.
  • Licensure and/or Certification:
  • Current license as a Nurse Practitioner in Massachusetts required
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner required (this is required for Massachusetts licensure). (ARNP)
  • Certification as a PMHNP
  • BLS healthcare provider required
  • Skills: 
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
