Goldbelt Professional Services specializes in providing expert resources for Public Health missions including scientific, technical, and administrative support from junior staff to high-level subject matter experts. Research and data driven, Goldbelt Professional Services’ experts create solutions customized to the client’s needs.

Summary

Goldbelt Professional Services, LLC is seeking a Health Communication/Technical Writer to work within the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This position will provide professional support for the Division of Viral Diseases Communication’s Team to include a focus on internal and external communications activities. This work will be performed at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Roybal Campus in Atlanta, GA. The CDC is the nation's premier health promotion, prevention, and preparedness agency. The Health Communications/Technical Writer will report to Goldbelt Professional Services leadership to ensure the execution of timely, high-quality deliverables for the client.

Responsibilities Essential Job Functions

Health Communication/Technical Writer: S shall create and disseminate high-quality communication products (e.g., fact sheets, web content, social media, toolkits, and presentations) tailored to diverse audiences such as public health professionals and healthcare providers and collaborate with subject matter experts, analysts, and leadership to support communication efforts for major initiatives and high-visibility announcements.

  • Provide writing/editing technical support for leadership messages, Q and As, fact sheets, PowerPoints, emails, newsletters and manuscripts.
  • Help develop messaging aligning office activities to center goals and leadership priorities.
  • Coordinate and solicit content and updates from different entities such as divisions, OD offices, work groups and other agency stakeholders.
  • Provide project management support for communication activities and assist in the development, maintenance and execution of communications plans.
  • Manage key internal communication channels such as SharePoint, Teams and other tools.
  • Ensure language is clear and consistent across channels and aligns with CDC requirements.
  • Review and assess communication performance metrics and provide timely and credible recommendations.
  • Support evaluations of communication tactics and strategies to provide timely and credible recommendations for improving existing practices and meeting division communication needs.
  • Participate in team meetings, and contribute to reports and other feedback mechanisms as appropriate
Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge
  • Knowledge of public health communication principles, plain language standards, CDC requirements, clearance processes, and leadership messaging priorities.
  • Skill in developing, reviewing, and editing clear, accurate, and consistent communication materials across multiple channels, including media responses, talking points, factsheets, newsletters, and toolkits.
  • Ability to create and manage PowerBI dashboards, analytics reports, and other data visualization products to track media trends, outcomes, health trends, and audience engagement.
  • Skill in analyzing engagement metrics, media data, audience insights, and communication outcomes to refine messaging and improve outreach effectiveness.
  • Ability to develop timely outbreak-related communication products and resources for state, local, and partner audiences, including public information officers and other public health stakeholders.
  • Public health communication skills, including ability to support development and packaging of toolkits, guidance, etc.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical language to non-expert audiences, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to quickly synthesize and communicate information in a concise, digestible way.
  • Experience liaising across teams with varying expertise and skill sets.
  • Advanced use of Adobe and Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, SharePoint).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work well independently, be solution-oriented, motivated, and committed to customer and company success.
  • Able to collaborate with internal CDC partners.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Communications, Public Health, English or related field.
  • At least 2-5 years of experience in health communication or a related field.
  • The contractor should possess strong interpersonal, analytical and communication skills, be customer-oriented and flexible.
  • Experience and skills creating and maintaining SharePoint sites, pages, apps and tools
  • Experience and skills using O365 products
  • Experience and skill in preparation of written and oral responses for inquiries, reports and presentations are also required for this position.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills to coordinate work that will engage a wide range of programs, issues and staff from a variety of professional backgrounds.
  • Experience with current Section 508 Compliance Requirements and Clear Communication Index.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working with the CDC is highly desired to understand the culture and environment.
  • Experience with Health Communications.
  • 3+ years with a MA/MS degree in English, Health Education, Public Health or related field.
