Job description

As the Fitness Manager at Wave Health & Fitness, you are responsible for maintaining high standards across Personal Training and Group Exercise programs while supporting daily operations. Your friendly, professional, and enthusiastic approach directly enhances the member experience and overall service quality. 

Success in this role requires a strong fitness background, the ability to anticipate the needs of members, staff, and the facility, and the skill to respond effectively to operational challenges. Strong prioritization, multitasking abilities, and positive interactions with members, guests, instructors, and employees are essential to achieving success. 

Schedule Requirements 

The Fitness Manager of Fitness will be required to work a varied schedule depending on business volume. 

Due to the cyclical nature of hospitality, flexibility is required to meet business needs. Participation in “all hands” events may be necessary. 

The hotel operates 24/7, including holidays. The company strives to support work-life balance. 


Program Management 

  • Oversee all fitness programs, including:  
  • Group exercise 
  • Personal training 
  • Nutrition counseling 
  • Additional wellness offerings 
  • Maintain group exercise schedules, ensuring all classes are properly staffed and covered 

Team Leadership & Development 

  • Supervise fitness and group exercise instructors to ensure high-quality service delivery 
  • Conduct monthly personal training development workshops 
  • Lead quarterly personal training client reviews 

Operations & Administration 

  • Process instructor payments accurately and on time 
  • Assist with daily operational needs of the fitness center 
  • Ensure exercise rooms and equipment are clean, functional, and well-maintained 

Program Development & Revenue Growth 

  • Develop and implement fitness workshops and fee-based programs 
  • Promote personal training, group exercise, nutrition, and other services 

Marketing & Engagement 

  • Create, manage and partner with Director of Communications on social media content (e.g., Facebook, Instagram) to promote services, programs, and events 

Culture & Service Excellence 

  • Uphold and promote the organization’s Vision, Mission, and Values 

Foster a positive, member-focused environment that enhances overall experience 

Pool Management 

  • Understand pool management and maintenance, inclusive of all health and safety codes.

Required Job Knowledge and Skills 

  • Previous supervisory and/or fitness experience and training in the health and/or fitness fields. 
  • The ability to lead by example and to set and monitor standards. 
  • Healthy, fitness-minded, knowledgeable, and confident with the fitness and wellness environments.  
  • Certified Personal Trainer required 
  • Strong organizational skills, basic computer experience and the ability to multi-task.

In addition to the essential duties, the Fitness Manager may be required to perform other supportive functions as assigned. The allocation of time for these responsibilities will be determined by the Director of Operations based on the needs of the business.

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in the fitness industry 
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role 

Education: 

  • High School diploma, general education degree equivalent experience required 
    Certifications 
  • Nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (e.g., ACE, ACSM, NASM) required 
  • Group Exercise Certification preferred 
  • Certified Pool Operator® Certification 

Language Skills: 

  • Strong proficiency in English preferred
