Job Title: Health Center Associate I
Location: Gwinnett, Georgia
Reports To: Health Center Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Salary: $20 per hour

SUMMARY
The Health Center Associate I is a full-time member of the healthcare team and assists clinicians and staff in providing the highest level of care and service to patients. ย The Health Center Associate I performs a wide array of duties in supporting patient services and clinical care in the health center, including front office, intake, medical assisting, laboratory, and other clinical services.ย  This role provides clinical, educational, and administrative services under the direction of the Health Center Manager and clinician in accordance with PPSE Medical Standards and Guidelines as well as State and Federal Regulations.ย

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Front Office
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ensures compliance with front office procedures, including setting up and closing down the reception area, keeping the lobby/patient waiting spaces neat and orderly throughout the day, and closing patient entry points at the end of the day
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Greets and welcomes all patients with a smile and excellent service; keeps patients apprised of delays or extended wait times
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Completes patient check-in and registration, including advising and assisting patients with form completion
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Completes patient data entry via PPSE's Electronic Health Record and prepares charts with appropriate information
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Enters relevant and appropriate information into tracking tools to improve service delivery and patient experience
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Completes patient charges and payments process, including processing payments and generating receipts
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Runs daily cashier reports, counts the cash drawer contents, balances day sheets, and prepares bank deposits
ย Checks out patients in a professional and pleasant manner

Back Office
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Provides patient counseling and education for all services
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Explains medical tests and procedures and obtains informed consent
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Allows patient to explore feelings and ask questions regarding findings and decisions while demonstrating empathy and being non-judgmental
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Completes necessary forms and counseling notes; provides referral information as needed
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Prepares exam rooms, including setting up the rooms up properly before the clinic begins, and proper breaking down and cleaning of exam rooms at the end of the clinic day
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Reviews medical history forms with the patient and assists with obtaining patient history, exam-related information, and education
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Completes required visit forms and documentation
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Prepares patient for their visit and supports patient during the visit, including instructing patient on what to expect and assisting the clinician with the visit and/or procedure
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Obtains patient vitals (height, weight and blood pressure)
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Prepares and performs all in-scope and allowable lab tests and requisitions for the clinician
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Documents lab results in patient charts and lab log
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Keeps the lab clean, safe, and stocked with supplies
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Maintains instruments and equipment per protocols for cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Maintains Quality Control records
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Maintains clean and neat clinical workspaces

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Required - 2 years of experience in healthcare, preferably in sexual and reproductive health
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Required - Electronic Health Record experience
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Preferred - Abortion and family planning experience
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Preferred - Certified Medical Assistant, Surgical Tech, or LPN

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ability to handle stress in a calm and professional manner, gracefully manage multiple projects, able to meet multiple deadlines, and comfortable working independently and as part of a team

Ability to travel as needed to other health centers, PPSE's administrative offices, and national conferences.ย  Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time as needed while working in a clinical and office environment. Ability to lift 20 pounds.ย
