Reports to: Plant Manager Cooperates with: Production, Engineering, Product/Process Development Primary Responsibility: Responsible for improving manufacturing safety, quality, productivity, and cost through process optimization, technical problem solving, and continuous improvement. This position provides day-to-day production support while leading cross-functional projects involving new equipment, process development, manufacturing scale-up, and operational excellence. Specific Duties and Responsibilities:Work is performed in office, chemical laboratory, and catalyst manufacturing environmentsPlan and communicate production activities to maintain continuous coating operationsCreate and maintain chemical batch sheets for catalyst coating operationsTroubleshoot processes, conduct root cause analysis, and initiate corrective actionsPublish, review, and update standard operating procedures and oversee operator trainingMaintain manufacturing records, process documentation, and process control chartsAnalyze production and quality data to identify process improvement opportunitiesCollaborate with Product and Process Development to implement new catalyst manufacturing processesLead equipment specification, installation, commissioning, and maintenance programsMaintain manufacturing master data including bills of materials, routings, production orders, and inventory transactions within the ERP systemSupport plant Environmental, Health & Safety programs by maintaining SDS records, promoting safe operating practices, and overseeing environmental permittingManage precious metal and chemical planning and forecastingEvaluate new suppliers by reviewing/developing material specifications and conducting new material validation testing Qualifications:B.S. or higher in Chemical Engineering Experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment (5+ years)Experience preparing process flow sheets, energy and mass balances, piping and instrumentation diagrams, cost estimates, and other engineering calculationsHands-on experience with basic chemical production equipment including tanks, pumps, mixers, etc.Experience with Microsoft Excel (advanced preferred) Experience with ERP systemsAbility to lift 60 pounds.
