Title: Apprentice Route Setter
Reports to: Head Route Setter
Position: 6-month Apprenticeship
Pay: $15.00/hr

Summary
The Apprentice Route Setter assists the Head and Assistant Setters in all aspects of the route setting process. This position is designed as a hands-on learning opportunity to develop the foundational skills required for a professional setting role.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with setting, stripping, cleaning, and organizing holds
  • Follow the explicit direction of the Head Setter
  • Forerun and set routes up to 5.12 and boulders up to V6+
  • Assist with maintenance tasks (fixing spinners, inspecting auto belays, tagging routes, etc.)
  • Support competition setup and teardown
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and use protective equipment appropriately
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Flexible schedule with early morning and afternoon availability
  • 2+ years of climbing experience preferred
  • Comfortable working at heights of 40+ feet and on ropes, ladders, and lifts
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively
