Job description

As part of Waymo's Legal team, you will work on the exciting legal issues surrounding our transformational autonomous driving technology and help drive our business lines forward from technology ideation through scaled commercial deployment. We partner with our public policy, safety, security and privacy experts to define transportation policy for the autonomous driving world to come, advising on regulatory changes that support and protect our users around the world. We collaborate with our engineering, product, strategy and operations teams to develop and protect our intellectual property portfolio and drive our corporate and commercial transactions. We ensure compliance with an increasingly complex and dynamic range of global regulations. And we anticipate, mitigate, and litigate high-profile and precedent-setting legal matters.

 In this hybrid role, you will report to the Head of Insurance Infrastructure

You will:

  • Lead the collection, compilation, and validation of underwriting data for insurance renewals across all lines of business.        
  • Manage Certificate of Insurance (COI) requests and review incoming vendor/contractor COIs to ensure compliance with Waymo's risk management standards.        
  • Review insurance binders, endorsements, policy documentation, and premium invoicing to verify precision against negotiated program terms and retentions.        
  • Partner cross-functionally with internal teams (Legal, Compliance, Operations) as the point of contact for routine insurance inquiries and requirements.        
  • Coordinate day-to-day processes with external partners, including insurance brokers, insurers, and other parties.               

You have:

  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a thorough approach towards operational deliverables.      
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and the ability to independently manage competing priorities with tight deadlines        
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate insurance requirements and collaborate effectively across diverse internal and external partners.        
  • Commercial insurance operations experience within a corporate risk management department, commercial insurance brokerage, or underwriting organization.        
  • Analytical and quantitative aptitude, comfortable navigating spreadsheets and AI tools to analyze Waymo's insurance and risk management programs.         

We prefer:

  • Experience working within innovative, fast-paced technology, and dynamic environments.        
  • Working knowledge of contractual risk transfer, indemnity clauses, and insurance compliance monitoring.        
  • Professional insurance certifications or progress toward designations (e.g., ARM, CPCU, CRIS, or equivalent).        
  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
