The Managing Director Head of Asset Management will manage and lead a team of asset managers across a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate mortgages, mezzanine debt, preferred equity, and real-estate owned positions. The Head of Asset Management will oversee service delivery and assist in developing and implementing asset management strategies at the asset and portfolio level to maximize value and performance while monitoring and reporting on asset performance, market trends, and risk assessments while ensuring compliance with all relevant governing legal documents, regulations, and company policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic oversight, governance, and accountability across a portfolio of commercial real estate credit and equity positions by managing a team of asset managers to analyze the portfolio, mitigate risk, and drive portfolio performance & liquidity while ensuring compliance with governing capital structures, loan documents, and servicing agreements.
  • Oversee the surveillance, management, and execution of all asset management functions across a diverse portfolio of real estate assets by providing value-add, strategic guidance to team members with respect to commercial real estate credit modifications, workouts/restructuring, enforcement actions ( i.e., receiverships, deed-in-lieu, foreclosures, etc.), value-add equity strategies, and disposition of assets in the context of a private debt fund, non-Commercial Mortgage Back Securities (CMBS) client's business model and capital structure.
  • Develop and implement asset management strategies to maximize value, performance, liquidity, and the subsequent execution of the sponsor and/or client business plan.
  • Monitor and report on asset performance (including cashflow and valuation underwriting), market fundamentals and trends, and risk assessments while communicating effectively with both senior management and the client to provide updates on asset performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in goal setting and create career advancement strategies for team members to support professional development.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required with focus in economics, finance, real estate, or other Financial related degree.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in commercial real estate asset management, special servicing, and/or underwriting.
  • 10+ years leading a team by setting clear goals, providing mentorship, and conducting regular performance reviews to foster collaboration, productivity, and professional growth.
  • Thorough understanding of commercial real estate capital structures, workout strategies, loan documents, industry fundamentals and terminology, and general commercial loan servicing practices and standards.
  • Proven track record in real estate restructuring, workouts, remedies, and/or equity management.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing asset management strategies and individual asset/credit business plans.
  • In-depth knowledge of real estate market trends and risk assessment analyses.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in the real estate sector.
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking and collaborative problem-solving abilities, working effectively with diverse teams to identify challenges, generate solutions, and achieve shared goals.
  • Excellent financial analysis and modeling capabilities.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work independently while leading others
